Be the She Who Honors check! Last December I hosted the five - week Be the She Who Honors challenge. It focused on five ways to honor to God in our lives. How are things going? Are you being the She (or he) Who Honors God with your all? I am a big advocate of self – awareness. Knowing yourself, your behaviors, actions, thoughts, emotions, strengths, weaknesses is important. Understanding and accepting the real you helps to know God. This will deepen your relationship with him.
How you impact others is necessary as well. (Link for How Do You Impact Others? blog post) How do you make people feel? Self – awareness is needed to honor God. Be intentional with everything we do. Ask the question is this honoring God? Am I pleasing to Him? “Teach me your ways, O Lord, that I may live according to your truth! Grant me purity of heart, so that I may honor you.” Psalm 86:11 NLT “For we don’t live for ourselves or die for ourselves. If we live, it’s to honor the Lord. And if we die, it’s to honor the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.” Romans 14:7-8 NLT Here’s a short recap of the Be the She Who Honors 5 – week challenge. Check your self (before you wreck yourself. I had to do it. 😊) progress. God first – Are you focusing on God first in your day? Do you put God first in everything you do? Putting God first gives us wisdom. Helps us towards kingdom living and prospers us. “In everything you do, put God first, and he will direct you and crown your efforts with success.” Proverbs 3:6 TLB Thoughts – You are what you think. Positive thoughts promote good health. Negative thoughts are toxic. Are your thoughts pleasing to God? “Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” Philippians 4:8 NLT Actions – What we believe is shown through our actions. Do your actions show you are a Christ follower? Are you the same at home as outside of home? Do you bear the fruit of the Spirit? “A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit. A tree is identified by its fruit.” Luke 6: 43 – 44 NLT Forgiveness – Forgive those that offend you. Holding grudges are detrimental to your spiritual journey. God wants us to forgive others as He forgives us. Forgive yourself, too. “Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.” Colossians 3:13 NLT Money – Are you a good steward of your money? Do you give to God first? Are you pleasing God with your spending? Since I started working as the head of my church’s benevolence ministry, I realize how much financial mis - management is prevalent in our society. Honoring God with our money will help with money problems. “Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine.” Proverbs 3:9-10 NLT Link for the 5 week challenge posts for a thorough recap. How is your progress? Remember we are on a spiritual journey to becoming more like Jesus. Each on their own speed. Don’t kick yourself if you aren’t honoring God every second of the day. (I know I don't. ) He understands. Just keep moving towards Jesus everyday. Live in the Spirit. Dying to ourselves gives us life! Thank you for reading. I love to hear your thoughts. Nothing is wrong if you are going to focus on yourself. After all, we should love ourselves first so that awe will be able to give that love to others. At the same time, your journey on finding your best version should always be your priority. We should always have something to look forward to and never settle for the lesser personality when you think you can be more. Spiritual journey is important so you should always take it seriously. It will always be a better choice to have God in this journey that you have.
