Here's some cheer!
Hey hey hey! It has been a crazy busy week for me and I decided to do something different for you! We're going to have a little fun and laughter here at She Who Honors! I love to laugh and have fun, who doesn't? My husband and dad are some of the funniest people I know.
There are some crazy and sad things happening in this world that can be really disturbing, even more so for those who don't know Jesus. But we should take heart, because He has overcome the world (see John 16:33) and receive the peace that only Jesus can give.
So instead of my ususal devotional posts, I'm going to bring you some cheer from various videos around the net. You have heard that laughter is the best medicine and the Bible talked about it way before science caught on:
A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person's strength Proverbs 17:22 (NLT).
A cheerful look brings joy to the heart; good news makes for good health. Proverbs 15:30 (NLT)
When you laugh it releases dopamine which is dope, I talked about it in the Guard your heart post. Dopamine is a feel good hormone. Laughter also increases your life span and can help fight diseases! Humor is a sign of intelligence, too!
So here you go, get your laugh on! Enjoy! You know I had to put an animal video here.
Yes, I put Kevin Hart on here! He cracks me up! This one is my fav of his What The Fit.
Thanks for stopping by. Hope you had some cheer and good belly laughs. Take a break from the craziness and don't forget to laugh. Please like, sign up for great deals and updates, share and comment. Love ya!

Is it well with your soul?
Is it well with your soul? I love how my church's, Allegheny Center Alliance Church in Pittsburgh, Pa, worship team sings traditional hymns and some contemporary songs. As stated in the post last week I grew up in a traditional AME Zion church; I have vivid memories of singing in the pews with hymnal in hand.
I love traditional hymns. One of my favorite hymns is It Is Well With My Soul by Horatio G. Spafford, 1873.
My sin—oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!--
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!
It is well with my soul,
It is well, it is well with my soul.
Read that verse again. Did you get goosebumps, the chills and/ or butterflies in your stomach? I always do when I sing this song. God’s love is so immense for me and you that He sacrificed His son to bear our sins. Thank you Jesus! My soul is well.
Is it well with your soul? One of the ways that makes your soul well is worshiping God.
I love worshiping God through music. When I sing and listen to my favorite praise and worship songs I feel his presence. When we praise God, He is here in our midst!
Why should we worship God?
“Honor the Lord, you heavenly beings;
honor the Lord for his glory and strength.
Honor the Lord for the glory of his name.
Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.” Psalm 29: 1-2 (NLT)
God is good, perfect, holy, blameless, love, strength, comfort, provider, life, peace and so much more. You are made to crave and worship God. He fills your hearts with peace and joy.
“Dear children, keep away from anything that might take God’s place in your hearts.” 1 John 5:21 (NLT)
When you don’t worship Him, you worship something else. Those other things will not make your soul well. See my previous post Like , Love or Lust Objects of worship (Idols).
When we worship the Lord, He gives us strength and blesses us with peace.
“The Lord gives his people strength.
The Lord blesses them with peace.” Psalm 29:11 (NLT)
Is it well with your soul? How are you worshiping the Lord? Are you taking time to praise Him and give Him thanks. Are you worshiping something else? I know that our lifestyle is actually a form of worship, but in this post I'm talking about setting a special time for worship (besides Sunday morning at church).
What is your favorite way to worship the Lord? Let me know. Worship Him, your soul will be well.
It is well with my soul.

Here’s my 2 play lists I’ve been worshipping and grooving to! I’m a child of the 90’s and loved rap/Hip – Hop, and I was so happy to find some good Christian Hip – Hop to dance and workout to (my praise beats list). Let me know what your think.
Do you know words have power?
A couple of years ago when I lived in southern Maryland, the church I attended had a mini summer camp for kids of an underserved community. I was one of the volunteers who assisted with the younger children. The main lessons were about having good values. The volunteers who taught the children were teachers and always had the best crafts and game ideas.
One of the lessons was focusing on anger and watching what you say when angry. An activity to teach that concept was having them squeeze out toothpaste from the tube and then trying to put the toothpaste back in. It was funny watching them trying to put globs of sticky green toothpaste back into the tube. You and I know it is impossible, but because of the wonder of children, they tried their hardest. Finally, they realized that it can’t be done.
They learned the lesson that the words we say cannot be put back. When words leave the lips, they can raise one up or put one down. Since this lesson was about anger it focused on hurtful words and its affects on the other person. This lesson hit home for the kids.
Words have power. They can transform a life, they can cause confusion if not in the right order, they can wear a person down to nothing or lift a person up. Words have emotion, are emotions. Word can leave imprints on minds and never be forgotten. Words can be death. Words can be life.
I’m writing about this topic because lately, so many people; celebrities, sports players, presidents and political folks included, have tweeted, posted or said things that they can never take back. These little words have affected careers, marriages, families, communities, countries, churches, ethnicities and themselves to a degree that they never thought of.
As the wise Teacher has said in the book of Ecclesiastes (1:9), nothing is new under the sun. Humans have choked on their words for millenniums!!!
“Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.” James 3:5-6 (NIV)
The book of James hit it on the nose. It talks about how humans can tame wild animals but can’t tame our own tongues!!! How can we praise the Lord yet curse God’s creation? But remember James is talking to Christ followers. We are to live by the spirit and have God’s wisdom and really take the time to think before we speak. When we live by the spirit we are patient, kind, loving, peaceful, not slandering anybody, gentle and have self – controlled.
The most powerful words are in the Bible. If we keep God’s words in our heart, live by the spirit and do what God says, the words we speak will be powered by love. They will be encouraging, uplifting, empowering and gently correcting. These words will help others not harm.
Remember everything we do starts with a thought. Before you say or do something take a quick second and think if it is helpful or harmful, especially when in anger. “My dear brothers and sisters take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry,” James 1:19 (NIV) When angry our brains aren’t using reason well. I talk about anger and its affects in the Lie of Hate post. Check it out.
I repeat words have power. Your words can be life or death. Which do you choose?
