I’m taking an online certificate course: Become a Thought Leader on Lynda.com from Linkedin. The powerful first lesson, the class name sake, provided me with evoking information on how to become a change agent. A transformation ambassador for God’s kingdom.
There are various lessons in this education pathway: personal branding, professional goal setting, becoming self – aware, storytelling, body language and others. This is very interesting because these classes touch on many aspects of the whole person -cognitive and behaviors- to becoming a thought leader.
A main theme is impact. How will I impact others? How am I impacting others now? As a thought leader, I want my ideas to impact others to take action.
An impact is an effect we have on others by a behavior, action, thought and/or choice. We can have impact without saying a word. We may impact people and not realize our influence! Does our behavior mirror what we believe?
Take a moment to think about your impact on others in your life. Family, friends, coworkers, church family, on social media, in public, in private…the list can go on.
God designed us to have powerful connections with others. He knew we can impact others in our environment. Sometimes these can be positive and negative effects.
God gifted us with the Bible to guide us in this life on earth. He has some wonderful advice to help us impact others for the good.
“God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen.” 1 Peter 5:10-11 NLT
“Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude. Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will grant you his blessing.” 1 Peter 3:8-9 NLT
“And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God, while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed. He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds.” Titus 3:12-14 NLT
Faith is a verb. We can’t have faith without demonstration. Our faith has impact. Together we can all be agents of change when Christ is our guide.
