Are you insatiable? I bet you think this post is going to be about sex because that is what many people connect the word insatiable with. Nope it’s not! Ok, maybe a little bit. I’m going to be bold and use insatiable as a description of the culture we live in today. Insatiable means unable to be satisfied, always wanting, seeking to be pleased or filled. Insatiable is depicted in social media, in videos, T.V. shows, movies, celebrities and people from all walks of life. The rich are never satisfied with their money, using their money to accumulate more things in search of satisfaction. The poor always wanting more money or things hoping it will bring them satisfaction. Celebrities so used to attention will do anything to be in the spotlight to satisfy that need. People of every ethnicity thinking they have to be like another ethnicity to get satisfaction. Children trying every different sport, club and trend imaginable to gain satisfaction. Parents living through their children who are doing every different sport, club or trend imaginable trying to fill that hole of satisfaction. I’m sure you can think of many more senarios, maybe even some things you do to be filled with satisfaction. Scrolling through social media sites of never ending scenes of people, children, cats, dogs and other animals doing silly things to make others entertained. Infinite products that we’re told we have to buy to make our lives better and satisfactory. Hairstyles, clothing and make up looks that ladies need to try. Free webinars, videos, classes, emails teaching the same things but with different titles. It’s the same things all the time, nothings new, but we still keep scrolling through never satisfied, hoping to be filled with something. (Sorry, don’t mean to sound like Solomon in Ecclesiates. But nothing is new in this world). It is overwhelming and causes stress, anxiety and worry to many people (me at times!). Should I even go there about all the different religions based on man or made by powerful men who have died and hasn’t saved a soul? Sadly people still go to these religions that are based on works, guilt, untruth, idolatry, male centered and filled with injustices and still they are never satisfied. Their souls cry to be filled with something. In the end, that is what insatiable is – our souls and spirits aren’t satisfied with all these things bombarding us all day, every day. Our souls and spirits want and need to be filled with the indwelling Holy Spirit, God the father and Jesus Christ. Being insatiable consists of unmet basic needs that will be filled when we believe in Jesus as our Lord and Savior, who died for our sins, rose from the dead and sits at the right hand of God our father. He has made us clean and restored our relationship with God! Then we are filled with the Holy Spirit who gives us amazing power, fruits of the spirit, light, life, joy, peace, helps us in our weaknesses and other wonderful gifts to live an abundant life. Things that nothing else will give or satisfy us! “And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven.” Luke 24:49 NLT But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Galatians 5:22-23 NLT Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life. John 3:5-6 NLT
God satisfies our every need. He fills our souls with unconditional love, acceptance, peace, grace, assurance, forgiveness and mercy through Jesus Christ. He will never fail us or forsake us. All we need to do is believe, pray, trust and obey. You satisfy me more than the richest feast. I will praise you with songs of joy. Psalms 63:5 NLT (I recommend reading this whole Psalm). Don’t get me wrong, I sometimes can fall prey to the insatiableness of this culture. Especially when I’m tired, hungry, mindless or stressed. Marketers know just what words and pictures to use to peak our insatiable appetites. The following helps me to stay satisfied in the Lord. How to stay satisfied in the Lord: 1.Read the Bible daily – fill yourself with God’s powerful word. 2. Memorize Bible verses; meditate, use them, pray them. 3. Pray continually. 4. Rejoice in the Lord. 5.Worship the Lord in song, dance or however you worship him. 6. Be grateful of everything in your life. 7. Limit your time on social media – do a fast every few weeks. 8.Be pleasing to the Lord, not to man (remember we can’t truly satisfy others how Jesus can). 9. Confess your sins, ask and receive forgiveness. Be forgiving of others. 10. Volunteer, give to others. 11. Enjoy life! Look I didn’t even get close to talking about sex!! Thanks for reading. I know this one was a little lengthy, and I had to stop myself because this is a big topic. I can write for days about it. Please leave your comments or email me, what are some ways you stay satisfied in the Lord? Share, like, follow and sign up for blog updates and deals! There is much happening behind the scenes of She Who Honors so I will not be on social media until Feb 19. There will still be weekly blog devotionals. Have an awesome week and may your soul be satisfied in the Lord. Love ya!

I love this article, Christina! It's right on time. Much of what you say in this post, I can relate. When I feel overwhelmed, I step away from everything. There's a song that says, Just Give Me Jesus, and at times, that's all I want. I have to do better in my walk with Christ.
