uncover your purpose Uncover your purpose. What is your purpose? What motivates you? Who am I? What are we here for? These are all questions that have been or will be asked by everyone. It is a part of life. There are definite answers to these questions as well! We all have a purpose. Some say their purpose is a wife, husband, girlfriend, boyfriend, parent, doctor, lawyer, b ball player, track star, hip hop artist, personal trainer, teacher, friend, boss, etc. These are all wonderful roles and identities to have, but what will happen if you get a divorce, break up, child grows up and leaves the home, bad leg injury, a one hit wonder, lose your singing voice, etc.? What is your purpose and identity now? Will you become depressed, loose hope? Even lose some friends? (If you lose friends because you lost your identity, then they are not your true friends in the first place.)
Our purpose/identity should not be based on what we do or who we are – these things change and can be unpredictable. Our purpose/ identity should be based on who’s we are. We are God’s creation, children of God. God made us to glorify Him. Ephesians 1:11 – 12 (MSG) says, ‘It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.’ God wants us to love Him with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength (see Mark 12:30). He wants all of you because He gives you all of Him to those who ask and believe. He is a strong foundation, he will never leave you or abandon you. Deuteronomy 31:6 (NIV) says, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you." God has a plan for all believers, He wants us to spread the Gospel, the good news of Jesus to all creation (Mark 16:15).That can be done by many different ways - media outlets, living right, being loving. We are his love letter. He also has a specific thing for each of us. “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephe 2:10. We all have talents and gifts that God has blessed us with, in which we are good at and even love to do. He gave those to us for a purpose, to help glorify Him and advance His kingdom! “Commit your actions to the LORD, and your plans will succeed.” (Prov 16:3 NLT). We all have a purpose and plan, there is a meaning to this life. I pray you understand God’s purpose for you, knowing this will help you have a better quality of life. Thanks for reading.
